Select Glutathione studies

Fatty Liver Disease:

The 29 patients who were treated with 300mg of oral Glutathione for 4 months.

Patients showed a reduction in ALT levels (Honda 2009).

We often add Vitamin C and E in NAFLD in part due to their Glutathione augmenting effects.

Parkinson's Disease:

One study reported a 42% decline in Parkinson's disability.

600 mg Glutathione administered intravenously twice daily for 30 days.

The therapeutic effect was observed to last for 2 to 4 months (Sechi 1996).

Our Naturopathic doctors have experience with Glutathione IV with Parkinson's.

The effects are person dependent - some patients have rapid and profound effect.

Kidney Health:

Twenty-one patients with reduced renal function underwent coronary angiography.

Patients were equally assigned to NAC or Glutathione 30 min (3000mg) before the procedure.

Intravenous Glutathione is more effective in protecting the kidneys (Saito 2011).

Immune Function:

A 6-month randomized, trial of oral Liposomal Glutathione (250 or 1,000 mg/day).

At 6 months, mean levels increased up to 30-35 % in lymphocytes.

There was as a significant  increase in NK cell cytotoxicity (Richie Jr 2015).

We often add 1-2 grams of Glutathione to our immune boosting IV treatments.

Chemoprotection:

Twenty patients suffering from advanced lung cancer or head- and neck cancer.

11 of which were randomized to 5000mg of Glutathione given before cisplatin.

The intensity of hematologic toxicity was significantly less pronounced.

Efficacy of chemotherapy was not affected (Schmidinger 2000).

IV Glutathione can be done prior to patients receiving Platin based chemotherapy.

Skin Whitening:

Sixty medical students were randomized to receive either Glutathione or placebo for 4 weeks.

500 mg/day in two divided oral doses.

At 4 weeks, the melanin indices decreased consistently (Arjinpathana 2012).

We have substantial experience with IV Glutathione for cosmetic benefit.

IV therapy delivers nutrients directly into circulation, achieving results oral supplements simply can’t match.

Hyperbaric Chambers in Edmonton – Oxygen Meets Regeneration

To complement IV therapy, TruMed also provides Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) in our modern chambers. By breathing concentrated oxygen under pressure, your body absorbs far more oxygen than normal—fueling healing at the cellular level. HBOT has been shown to reduce inflammation, enhance energy, support brain recovery, and accelerate tissue repair. Many patients combine HBOT with Glutathione or NAD+ IVs for an even greater effect on recovery, skin health, and overall vitality.

Glutathione IV Therapy & Injections in Edmonton

At TruMed Naturopathic Clinic in Edmonton, we specialize in advanced IV therapy treatments designed to support both health and aesthetics. One of our most popular options is Glutathione IV therapy—a powerful antioxidant treatment known for its ability to brighten skin, improve clarity, and enhance cellular detoxification. Our Naturopathic Doctors also offer convenient Glutathione injections, providing flexible options for patients who want skin and wellness benefits with minimal time commitment.

Cosmetic & Antioxidant Benefits

At TruMed, our cosmetic IV protocols often combine Glutathione drips with high-dose Vitamin C infusions. Vitamin C enhances glutathione activity by recycling it in the body, maximizing its antioxidant potential. This dual-infusion approach supports:

Skin brightening & complexion clarity

Cellular protection from oxidative stress

Improved hydration and elasticity

Treatments generally take 30–45 minutes and are tailored by our Naturopathic Doctors to match your individual goals, skin type, and health profile.

The Science of Glutathione IV Therapy

When administered intravenously, reduced glutathione (GSH) enters the bloodstream directly, delivering antioxidant, detoxifying, and skin-brightening effects straight to tissues. Unlike oral supplements, IV therapy bypasses digestion, allowing for higher absorption and more noticeable results. Clinical studies and patient experience both support Glutathione’s ability to reduce pigmentation, even skin tone, and protect against oxidative stress.

How Glutathione Brightens Skin

Glutathione works by inhibiting tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for melanin production. This shifts pigment balance away from eumelanin (darker pigment) and toward pheomelanin (lighter pigment), gradually leading to a brighter, more even complexion. Over time, patients often notice improved tone, fewer dark spots, and a smoother overall skin appearance

Glutathione Treatment Plans

Most patients receive Glutathione IV therapy 1–2 times per week for 4–6 weeks, depending on their goals. Our doctors may also recommend supporting nutrients like Alpha-Lipoic Acid (ALA) or oral cofactors to sustain results between infusions. For those looking for a faster option, Glutathione injections are available in-office and can be added to other IVs such as Vitamin drips or NAD infusions.

Our Naturopathic Doctors have administered thousands of Glutathione treatments in Edmonton since 2010, with a strong record of safety and excellent patient satisfaction.

NAD+ Injections & IV Therapy in Edmonton

Beyond Glutathione, TruMed is also one of Edmonton’s leading clinics for NAD+ injections and IV therapy. NAD+ is a vital molecule for cellular energy, mitochondrial function, and anti-aging medicine. We offer both in-office NAD infusions and take-home subcutaneous NAD injections for ongoing support between IV sessions. Patients often combine NAD+ and Glutathione back-to-back to target longevity, detox, and energy optimization.
